Reynolds brings software work back to U.S.

Reynolds and Reynolds Co. has closed a software development operation in China and is moving other offshore software and product development work back to the United States.

The moves come as part of an effort by new chairman Bob Brockman to keep tight control of the development process a move he signaled in a February interview at the National Automobile Dealers Association convention in Las Vegas.

"Rightly or wrongly, Reynolds [before the merger] has been on a path of outsourcing that I don't agree with," Brockman said then. "We're actively recruiting entry-level technical people to replace that which was done in India, which was software development and testing."

As part of the shift, Reynolds also said last week that it is ending several outsourcing projects previously handled by subcontractors in India.
